All About Nosey!
----------
Nosey was originally born in Zimbabwe, Africa in the early 80s. At barely 2 years of age, Nosey's herd was brutally slaughtered for their ivory. Nosey and about 60 other young elephants were orphaned. They were eventually rescued from certain death from millionaire and fitness inventor, Arthur Jones - who owned a 330-acre estate in Florida called Jumbolair. Nosey was soon adopted by Hugo Liebel and given a new chance of life. Nosey helped raise and support The Liebel children and She was treated like a Big sister. The Liebels happened to operate their own family circus, which has a history dating back to over 500 years ago.
And For over 30 years, Nosey was one of the stars. Her family were always around or beside her during performances.
This would come to an end on November 9, 2017. The Liebel family had broken down in Lawrence County in Alabama and were getting their brakes fixed. After Animal rights extremists filed complaints, An Animal control officer, Kimberly Carpenter with ZERO Exotic animal knowledge or experience came out to see Nosey. In her ignorant beliefs, She claimed that Nosey was mistreated and got a court order to remove Nosey from The Liebels.
The Elephant Sanctuary of Tennessee (TES) were called in to receive Nosey.
An unauthorized trailer arrived and At first, they tried convincing Nosey to go into the TES trailer with food but she refused to leave her family's side. They finally made the decision to winch her into the trailer. Nosey was forcefully winched into the TES trailer, injuring her back leg and because of the pain, She lashed out to one of the employees, injuring them as well. (This was all reported in court!)
Nosey was then shipped off across state lines WITHOUT any permits, which is illegal.
It is believed Nosey's seizure was a planned heist by Animal Rights Extremists and PETA, which by group conversations by Animal Rights people have proven so.
After only 2 weeks of being at TES, Nosey broke a large portion of her right tusk and from a recent photo (SHOWN BELOW), Nosey's eye appeared injured and swollen. These were obvious signs that Nosey had been banging her head against the steel bars of her prison stall, injuring herself.
The staff of TES did not treat her and brushed it off as a "natural occurrence"
Nosey's Vet, Dr. Mark Wilson DVM stated her broken tusk needed to be looked at and x-ray it as it could develop an infection or some life threatening condition. TES failed to do this and left it be. The Liebels even stated, "Nosey was always careful with her tusks. She rarely even chipped them when in our care."

The Custody trial for Nosey was on December 17, 2017 and held by Judge Angela Terry. The Trial lasted almost 10 hours as Judge Terry heard from both sides. During the trial, TES veterinarian claimed Nosey was suffering from a skin condition and a form of arthritis, as she presented X-rays that were not clear or accurate, which she admitted to later. She was also asked If she knew what Nosey was fed and she stated She was a Vet, and did not keep up with how much Nosey ate there or what she was exactly fed. She also was exposed for not having blood tests to prove her diagnosis of Nosey. TES also admitted to drugging Nosey to keep her calm.
Nosey's personal veterinarian of over 10 years testified that when He came to TES to examine Nosey, He wasn't allowed to get close but was about to observe her and her behavior. He stated that She was not all mentally there and she looked traumatized or uncomfortable. The Liebel's closest friend, Frank Murray who knew the Liebels care for Nosey all to well testified Nosey was in the best of care and He never saw her abused or mistreated. Closing the trial was Hugo Liebel, He stated how Animal rights groups had been harassing or stalking him, his family and Nosey for many years, before he said, "I'm guilty as charged because I own an Elephant"
It wasn't until January 22nd of 2018 that Judge Terry gave her verdict... Nosey was given custody to Kim Carpenter. Carpenter stated she was allowing Nosey to remain at TES. The Liebels were heartbroken but refused to give up!
Around March of 2018, They filed an Appeal and it took MONTHS to officially have a date, as the Animal Rights worshipping Plaintiffs was aiming to drag the case out and bankrupt The Liebels, and The Court was asking for documents on Nosey from years ago, which actually is not a requirement, just another SCHEME to stop the Liebels. The Justice System in Lawrence County is obviously CORRUPTED by PETA.
On November 4, 2019 - A Hearing occurred and their Appeal was tragically dismissed, forcing Nosey to suffer LONGER at TES. However, Good news is the case is OUT of that county and The Liebels can happily take REAL Legal Action in State or even Supreme Court!
We are NOT giving up on Nosey!
TOP MYTHS ABOUT NOSEY'S CARE
MYTH #1 - "Nosey has been Beaten into submission in order to perform and is threatened by a bullhook"
An overall common and typical animal rights Myth. People with common sense would know Rewarding and having a bond with an animal is the only way to gain true trust and respect. Nosey preforms behaviors because She knows she will be given praise or reward (Food) afterwards. Like dogs, Elephants love food and lots of it. The "Bullhook" is not a weapon, but a key husbandry tool for elephants in "free contact". It is actually called an "Ankus" or "Elephant Guide" - which is it's purpose to guide the elephant, almost like a leash for a dog. Close friends of The Liebels have already testified that Nosey has never been abused in such a way.
MYTH #2 - "Nosey is chained for hours a day and Her swaying is a sign that she is stressed and unhappy."
When not supervised, It is required by law for Nosey to be tethered or placing her on a lead. Tethering an elephant is no different than placing your dog on a temporary leash or outside lead. Nosey is Tethered to keep her safe and the public safe - as If she wondered away, She could accidentally cause trouble or hurt someone. According to actual zoologists and scientists, Elephants do sway in the wild but mostly in human care. Why? It is to reduce weight on their feet when standing for a period of time. Elephants being heavy animals need to shift their weight.
MYTH #3 - "Nosey suffers from Arthritis and a horrible skin condition - Both have been untreated for years."
Very false. Nosey has NEVER suffered from Arthritis or from any life-threatening diseases or illnesses. These were rumors spread by Animal Rights extremists who like to play "Elephant expert". Nosey has no skin condition - As an African Elephant, She does have natural skin build up which protects her actual layer of skin from the sun and She sheds more skin than an Asian Elephant. While in the Liebel's custody, Nosey was provided oil baths to help keep dead skin under control.
MYTH #4 - "Nosey is deprived of Food or Water or only fed fruit peelings."
Nosey has always been provided the correct amounts of water or food. She is an 8,000+ African Elephant, Do you really think this Elephant has made it to 35 years of age without proper nutrition? When it came to food, Nosey ate over 200 pounds of hay and other grains, with a mix of vegetables and fruits. Nosey also consumed up to 50 gallons of water each day.
So, Why is Nosey not safe at The Elephant

Sanctuary in Tennessee (or TES)?
---------------------------------------
For one, Taking Nosey away in the first place was a crime upon her and her human companions who took care of her for over 35 years of her life.
Secondly, TES is nothing but a poorly run and neglectful Elephant death camp. TES is responsible for the deaths of 17 elephants since it opened - with at least 2 elephants dying each year. They have a higher death rate than any Zoo in the US. TES winched Poor Nosey in their trailer, injuring her leg. TES has a long history of not providing proper medical care and TB (Tuberculosis) outbreaks - causing the majority of the deaths. So, Nosey is in a life-threatening situation.
Another thing, Nosey is kept isolated in a concrete cell or a small area, considered her "habitat" - This is the first time being away from her family like this or without seeing humans period. Again, Her personal vet testified that poor Nosey is not herself and showing signs of possible PTSD and Separation Anxiety, which is harmful for her mental state. Nosey is in a very unfamiliar place and with already months passing, She is getting more and more frustrated and insane. The Sanctuary is not her home. She deserves to be reunited with the people who cared and love her!
